چکیده

Let 1 ≤ s < t, N ≥ 1 be integers and a complex electronic circuit of size t is said to be an s-active, s ≪ t, and can work as a system block if not more than s elements of the circuit are defective. Otherwise, the circuit is said to be an s-defective and should be replaced by a similar s-active circuit. Suppose that there exists a possibility to run N non-adaptive group tests to check the s-activity of the circuit. As usual, we say that a (disjunctive) group test yields the positive response if the group contains at least one defective element. Along with the conventional decoding algorithm based on disjunctive s-codes, we consider a threshold decision rule with the minimal possible decoding complexity, which is based on the simple comparison of a fixed threshold T , 1 ≤ T ≤ N − 1, with the number of positive responses p, 0 ≤ p ≤ N. For the both of decoding algorithms we discuss upper bounds on the α-level of significance of the statistical test for the null hypothesis {H0 : the circuit is s-active} verse the alternative hypothesis {H1 : the circuit is s-defective}. Let N ≥ 2, t ≥ 2, s and T be integers, where 1 ≤ s < t and 1 ≤ T < N. The symbol denote the equality by definition, |A| – the size of the set A and a binary code of length N and size t = ⌊2 RN ⌋, where a fixed parameter R > 0 is called a rate of the code X. The number of 1's in a binary column x = N i=1 x i , is called a weight of x. A code X is called a constant weight binary code of weight w, 1 ≤ w < N , if for any j ∈ [t], the weight |x (j)| = w. The conventional symbol u v will be used to denote the disjunctive (Boolean)

Threshold Disjunctive Codes

Let 1 ≤ s < t, N ≥ 1 be integers and a complex electronic circuit of size t is said to be an s-active, s ≪ t, and can work as a system block if not more than s elements of the circuit are defective. Otherwise, the circuit is said to be an s-defective and should be substituted for the s-active circuit. Suppose that there exists a possibility to check the s-activity of the circuit using N non-ada...

Disjunctive Multi-Level Secret Sharing

A disjunctive multi-level secret sharing scheme divides users into different levels. Each level L is associated with a threshold tL, and a group of users can only recover the secret if, for some L, there are at least tL users at levels 0....L in the group. We present a simple ideal disjunctive multi-level secret sharing scheme – in fact, the simplest and most direct scheme to date. It is the fi...

Efficient Two-Stage Group Testing Algorithms for DNA Screening

Group testing algorithms are very useful tools for DNA library screening. Building on recent work by Levenshtein (2003) and Tonchev (2008), we construct in this paper new infinite classes of combinatorial structures, the existence of which are essential for attaining the minimum number of individual tests at the second stage of a two-stage disjunctive testing algorithm.

Almost disjunctive list-decoding codes

Abstract. A binary code is said to be a disjunctive list-decoding sL-code, s ≥ 1, L ≥ 1, (briefly, LD sL-code) if the code is identified by the incidence matrix of a family of finite sets in which the union of any s sets can cover not more than L− 1 other sets of the family. In this paper, we introduce a natural probabilistic generalization of LD sL-code when the code is said to be an almost di...

Novel Impossibility Results for Group-Testing

In this work we prove non-trivial impossibility results for perhaps the simplest non-linear estimation problem, that of Group Testing (GT), via the recently developed Madiman-Tetali inequalities. Group Testing concerns itself with identifying a hidden set of d defective items from a set of n items via t disjunctive/pooled measurements (“group tests”). We consider the linear sparsity regime, i.e...
